Zoom Meeting ID: 939 4580 5379
Passcode: Fac-search
Abstract:
Urbanization is accelerating across Southeast Asia, transforming vegetated areas into impervious surfaces and leading to intensified flooding and water quality degradation in receiving waters. In the Philippines, these issues are further exacerbated by the weak integration of land use planning with stormwater management systems. Traditional grey infrastructure, while essential, is increasingly inadequate in addressing the scale and complexity of these urban hydrologic challenges. This study investigates the integration of Green Infrastructure (GI) with conventional drainage systems to enhance the resilience and adaptability of urban environments. GI employs nature-based, decentralized solutions—such as permeable pavements, rain gardens, and vegetated swales—that manage stormwater at its source and restore natural hydrologic functions. A key innovation of this research is the incorporation of water footprint accounting as a decision-support tool to guide the spatial allocation and prioritization of Low Impact Development (LID) interventions. This approach enables a more comprehensive assessment of stormwater impacts, aligning environmental performance with urban development objectives. Hydrologic modeling was conducted across multiple rainfall percentiles to evaluate the effectiveness of GI strategies in reducing runoff volumes and controlling non-point source pollution. Results demonstrate that strategically placed GI interventions can significantly mitigate surface runoff, improve water quality, and deliver additional co-benefits such as urban cooling and ecosystem enhancement. The proposed framework illustrates how coupling hydrologic performance metrics with water footprint indicators can support more informed, evidence-based decision-making. This integrative method advances sustainable stormwater management and provides a scalable pathway for rapidly urbanizing cities in Southeast Asia.
Looking forward to your participation.

Title: INDUSTRY 5.0: ADVANCING HUMAN-CENTRIC INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION THROUGH AI
Date: Thursday, 5th June 2025
Time: 4:00 PM (Bangkok Time)
Zoom Meeting ID: 939 4580 5379
Passcode: Fac-search
Abstract:
Industry 5.0 represents a pivotal evolution beyond automation-centric Industry 4.0, prioritizing human-centric innovation and sustainable transformation through synergistic collaboration between humans and advanced technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) acts as a key enabler, driving human-centricity by empowering empathy-driven design (e.g., user journey mapping boosting adoption by 35%), iterative processes, and collaborative tools that enhance creativity and product-market fit. Concurrently, AI fuels sustainability by optimizing resource efficiency, enabling circular economy models (e.g., Dell's recycled packaging saving 200k tons of waste), reducing energy consumption, and unlocking value through eco-conscious products that resonate with consumers (70% of Gen Z prefer sustainable brands). Critical technologies underpinning this shift include collaborative robots (cobots), digital twins, AI-powered generative design, the Internet of Behaviors (IoB), and blockchain, accelerated by 5G. While AI unlocks significant productivity gains, cost savings, and personalized experiences across sectors (manufacturing, healthcare, retail, agriculture, energy), successful implementation necessitates addressing ethical challenges such as data privacy, AI bias, workforce displacement, and the energy demands of AI systems.
This is a valuable opportunity to hear from a prospective colleagues about their research and academic vision. We encourage all faculty, staff and students to attend this special session.
We look forward to your participation.

Title: DEEP LEARNING ARCHITECTURES FOR SEMANTIC TEXT SUMMARIZATION AND INTELLIGENCE BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION
Date: Friday, 6th June 2025
Time: 11:15 AM (Bangkok Time)
Zoom Meeting ID: 939 4580 5379
Passcode: Fac-search
Abstract:
The discussion explores statistical and deep learning methodologies applied to two critical domains: biometric security and natural language processing. Firstly, we propose an enhanced approach to automatic text summarization tailored for web content or text documents. This method integrates lexical chaining with semantically related terms to construct coherent and contextually relevant summaries, thereby improving informativeness and linguistic cohesion.
Secondly, we present novel frameworks employing Data-Independent Acquisition (DIA) and bidirectional recurrent neural networks—including Bi-GRU architectures—for electrocardiogram (ECG)-based biometric authentication. These models effectively capture the temporal and morphological patterns of ECG signals, offering enhanced classification accuracy, robustness, and resistance to spoofing.
Together, these contributions demonstrate the adaptability and efficacy of deep learning architectures across heterogeneous data modalities, reinforcing their impact on intelligent signal processing and semantic information extraction.
This is a valuable opportunity to hear from prospective colleagues about their research and academic vision. We encourage all faculty, staff and students to attend this special session.
We look forward to your participation.

Title: AI FOR DATA-DRIVEN EDUCATION AND TEACHER EMPOWERMENT
Date: Friday, 6th June 2025
Time: 10:00 AM (Bangkok Time)
Zoom Meeting ID: 939 4580 5379
Passcode: Fac-search
Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping education by enabling data-driven insights, adaptive content delivery, and personalized instruction. My work sits at the intersection of Learning Sciences and AI in Education, where I focus on leveraging AI technologies to enhance learning experiences and improve educational outcomes. With machine learning and data analysis, I have developed models and algorithms that analyze learner data to support the creation of personalized learning pathways and targeted interventions.
My research explores two interconnected dimensions:
Enhancing student learning through AI-driven modeling: I develop robust student models using causal graphs and reinforcement learning frameworks to simulate diverse learning trajectories. These models allow for precise prediction of student outcomes and enable early identification of learning challenges, even in data-sparse environments.
Empowering educators with AI-driven support: I design AI systems that provide real-time insights, recommend tailored instructional strategies, and enhance formative assessment. By integrating pedagogical theory with methods such as causal inference and policy learning, I aim to create transparent, trustworthy, and context-aware systems that actively support both learners and educators. This includes preparing teachers with foundational AI knowledge to equip them for future roles in an AI-augmented educational landscape.
This dual approach envisions a future where AI not only personalizes learning for students but also collaborates with educators to elevate teaching quality and improve learning outcomes at scale.
This is a valuable opportunity to hear from prospective colleagues about their research and academic vision. We encourage all faculty, staff and students to attend this special session.
We look forward to your participation.
