2) Promotion of Dr. Mongkol Ekpanyapong and Dr. Jai Govind Singh from the rank of Associate Professor to Full Professor

Dear Members of the AIT Community,
I am pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Mongkol Ekpanyapong and Dr. Jai Govind Singh from the rank of Associate Professor to Full Professor, following the approval of the Board of the Trustees at its meeting held on the 28th of August 2025.
Dr. Mongkol joined AIT as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) in 2009 and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2016. He obtained his Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA in 2006 and 2003, respectively. He earned his Master of Engineering in Computer Science from the Asian Institute of Technology in 2000, and his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1997. Dr. Mongkol’s research encompasses artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, embedded systems, computer architecture, and microelectronics. He has received several distinctions, including the Thailand Research Fund Prominent Research Award in 2018 and multiple invention and innovation awards at international exhibitions. His service at AIT included leadership roles as Director of the AI Center and Head of the Industrial Systems Engineering Department in SET.
Dr. Singh joined AIT as an Assistant Professor in the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) in 2009 and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2016. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India in 2008. Dr. Singh earned his Master of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India in 2003, and his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (NIT) Allahabad, India in 2001. His research encompasses electric and hybrid electric vehicle technologies, smart grid and microgrid design and operation, renewable energy generation and integration, power system planning and control, and electricity market restructuring and power trading. He has also received multiple Best Paper Awards at international conferences in 2023 and 2025. His leadership roles at AIT include serving as Head of the Energy and Climate Change Department and Chair of the Sustainable Energy Transition program in SERD.

Abstract:
The United States Land-grant University system has played a transformative role in addressing global challenges of water and food security through its integrated mission of research, education, and extension. By fostering resilient agricultural innovations, advancing sustainable water management practices, and building human capacity through international partnerships, Land-grant Universities have significantly contributed to improving livelihoods worldwide. Their long-standing commitment to applied research, experiential learning, and community engagement has enabled the development of scalable solutions that respond to climate change, resource scarcity, and food system vulnerabilities. This presentation highlights the global impact of these institutions, showcasing how their collaborative efforts in research and education continue to shape a more resilient and food-secure future.
Dr. Kanwar is the Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor at Iowa State University, Ames, USA. His teaching and research focus on water and food security, as well as ecological and environmental systems. He began his career at Iowa State in 1983 as an Assistant Professor, became a Full Professor in 1991, Distinguished Professor in 2009, and served as Head of the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department from 2001–2011. He has supervised 30 MS and 33 PhD students, published over 645 papers (including 230 refereed journal articles), and secured $16M in research grants.

5) Personal data for 2025 Income Tax calculation
In order to ensure that your personal income tax complies with the Tax Regulations, it is important for us to have accurate records of your personal data in our system. Please log in to the following web link https://hris.ait.ac.th using your AIT email account credentials, and click on "View Employee Profile" to update your personal data.
Please kindly review and update the following as needed.
1. Contact information: personal phone number and residence address
2. Passport number and details of your dependents. Please ensure that the information regarding your child and spouse in the system is up to date. If they are studying or working in Thailand or abroad, kindly update the system accordingly.
3. Next of Kin: make sure that you have provided all the necessary details in the "Next of Kin" section. The next of kin should not be the same person listed as your direct dependent in HRIS. In the event of an emergency when you are incapacitated or if there are no other family members with you, the next of kin will be contacted by AIT.
Any changes in your personal data from the previous to the current year should be supported with documents in hard copies. These include passport copy, marriage certificate, child's birth certificate, house registration as well as receipts of investment in retirement mutual fund (RMF), personal health insurance, and personal long-term life insurance. 11. AIT CAMPUS SECURITY PLAN

A. SECURITY GUARD SYSTEM
1. In-Out Protocol (Main Gate No. 1)
• All external vehicles are required to exchange their ID cards upon entry.
• Motorcycles and bicycles will be subject to random checks. Motorcycles are not permitted beyond the Interlab or Admin Building areas. Violations will result in a fine of 1,000 Baht.
• Pedestrians from outside the campus will also be subject to random checks.
• External housemaids registered with the Accommodation Unit must record their names at every entry and are permitted to enter and exit only through Main Gate No. 1.
• Regular staff of service providers must either wear their official uniforms or present valid ID cards.
• After 11:00 p.m., Main Gate No. 1 will remain open with one pedestrian access point via the security guard’s side gate.
• After 12:00 a.m. (midnight), no outsiders will be permitted to enter the Institute, except AITCC guests and AIT-related family members, who must present valid identification.
• Gate No. 2 will remain restricted to selected contractors and AIT families only.
2. Campus Patrolling
• There are 9 security stations across the campus, staffed by guards to assist the community. Each station will be inspected by a security supervisor (using a golf cart) twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon.
• After office hours, stationed guards will patrol their assigned zones at 8:00 p.m. For academic buildings, guards will also enter and inspect the interiors during patrols.
• Security supervisors, equipped with golf carts, will check 50 designated checkpoints at 8:00 p.m., and will conduct additional patrols around the campus at 10:00 p.m., 12:00 a.m. (midnight), 2:00 a.m., and 4:00 a.m.
• Two security guard posts in residential areas (Securitas poles) will be upgraded and designated as incident reporting points for residents.
B. SWIMMING POOL GUIDELINES
• The swimming pool will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and supervised by two stationed lifeguards.
• Access is limited to AITCC guests, AIT faculty, staff, students, and their families. Any other person must be authorized by OFAM or Management.
• Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
• All swimmers must wear proper swimming attire. Anyone violating the rules will be asked by the lifeguards to leave the pool.
• Registration is required before entering the pool. Swimmers must scan the QR code at the pool gate, which will be verified by the lifeguards. Those without a mobile phone must show their ID card and register manually in the logbook.
• Every Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., is designated as Lady’s Day. During this time, only female swimmers are allowed to use the pool. Male access is strictly prohibited, except for authorized staff.
C. STRAY DOGS ISSUE
• OFAM will announce to the AIT community regarding the presence of stray dogs on campus and request cooperation in not feeding them. Community members are also encouraged to report sightings to Security, providing details such as time, location, color, and behavior of the dog.
• Security guards and the OFAM team will be instructed to intervene if a dog shows aggressive behavior or is seen chasing people.
• Security guards and the OFAM team will regularly survey the campus and maintain records of stray dog sightings (time, location, color, and behavior), which will support future catching efforts.
• OFAM will coordinate with local authorities to provide vaccinations and neutering for the dogs as much as possible.
• OFAM will also seek individuals or organizations who may be able to adopt or relocate the dogs outside of campus.
12. Chiller Plant Renovation Project and Temporary Service Interruptions

• Project Name: Chiller Plant Improvement and Energy Performance Services
• Contractor: THS Innovations Co., Ltd.
• Scope of Work: Renovation, replacement, and maintenance of the chiller plant
• Contract Period: 9 years
• Investment Cost: The contractor will invest with their own funding. AIT will repay in installments after the renovation is completed.
• Renovation Period: 25 July 2025 – 31 March 2026 (250 days)
Schedule of Works and Service Impact
• On Saturday, 6 September 2025, the contractor will remove Chillers No. 1 and 3. During this time, there will be no air conditioning in all Academic Buildings, the Admin Building, AITCC, and Dormitories E, J, and K.
• In October 2025, the cooling towers will be removed and replaced. Air conditioning will again be unavailable in the same areas (Academic Buildings, Admin Building, AITCC, Dormitories E, J, and K) on most Saturdays and Sundays.
• From 20 to 31 December 2025, major demolition, chiller replacement, and system setup will take place. This period was chosen to coincide mostly with the AIT year-end holidays.
1) Nature-based Hi-Tech Solutions for Climate-Resilient Water Management in Asian Deltas
Asian delta regions increasingly facing threats from flooding, prolonged droughts, and pervasive environmental degradation. Conventional water governance often isolates ecological, technological, and societal dimensions, leading to fragmented approaches to resilience.
This 5-day program is tailored for professionals eager to tackle the complex challenges of Asian delta regions through innovative Nature-based Hi-Tech Solutions. The course integrates theory, practical tools, and delta-specific field exposure for sustainable, climate-resilient water resource management. A coverage of 5-modules reflects actual learning through practice, experiences and exposures.
Objectives:
- Understand principles and the global NbS frameworks from the standard of IUCN.
- Assess climate risks and explore how NbS can mitigate impacts of floods, and water vulnerabilities.
- Witness real-world NbS applications addressing water challenges.
- Gain experience with GIS, hydrological modeling tools, and remote sensing techniques.
- Develop strategies for stakeholder engagement and grassroots-level Climate-resilient water management project sustainability.
Event duration: 6 - 11 October 2025
Venue: AIT Green Campus, Bangkok, Thailand.

2) Call for Abstract “Technological Advancement and Social Innovation for Rural and Agricultural Resilience”
The 2025 AGLE conference on “Technological Advancement and Social Innovation for Rural and Agricultural Resilience” will be held from 5-8 November 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference will include two days of presentations and poster sessions and two days of field trips to rural Thailand.
This scientific event aims to promote the convergence of scientific knowledge and practical innovation, technological development, and applications for sustainability and resilience. The conference organized by IGU Commission on Agricultural Geography and Land Engineering (AGLE) in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.
The conference will feature high-level, inclusive, evidence-based discussions on the current challenges and priorities related to advancing innovation and technology for long-term rural sustainability, with a focus on contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This event offers a valuable opportunity for both early stage and established researchers and practitioners, to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and engage with globally renowned experts in the field. It also provides a platform to enhance participants’ expertise and professional recognition in rural sustainability. Greetings from the DRSD 2025 Secretariat for the upcoming 4th International Symposium on Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development (DRSD 2025), organized by the Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation and Management (DPMM) program at AIT.

2025 11th International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Automation Science (ICMEAS 2025) will be held in Bangkok, Thailand during December 11-14, 2025, which is organized by Hong Kong Society of Mechanical Engineers (HKSME), sponsored by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University - Nanjing Technology and Innovation Research Institute, supported by Guidance, Navigation and Control. The conference has been successfully held for 10 years since 2015 in Xuzhou, Xi'an, Wuhan, Beijing, Birmingham, Singapore and Hong Kong, and other places, attracting a large number of researchers, scholars and students from all over the world. The ICMEAS conference will provide a wonderful forum for you to update your knowledge base and explore the innovations in Mechanical Engineering and Automation Science.
