A. Announcement

 

1) Invitation - Conferment of the AIT Honorary Doctorate Degree on ADB President Mr. Masatsugu Asakawa on 11 June 2024

Dear Members of the AIT Community,

I am delighted to inform you that we will be conferring AIT’s Honorary Doctorate Degree - Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) upon the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Masatsugu Asakawa. The ceremony will take place at the Robert B. Banks Auditorium, AIT Conference Center, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. You are cordially invited to attend. The program is attached for your kind information.

Awarding an Honorary Degree is a method by which the Institute expresses its highest recognition of an individual's achievements. This honor acknowledges Mr. Asakawa’s exceptional contributions to the economic, social, and technological development of the Asia-Pacific region. AIT enjoys a very long and close relationship with ADB.

3) Blood Donation Announcement

Dear AIT Community, 

The Thai Red Cross Society has been working with volunteer students and staff to collect units of blood from the AIT community. The bloodmobile visits AIT every three months, four times a year, hoping to collect enough units to supply the constant demand for blood.

We again would like to ask for your help. The next visit for blood donation is scheduled on Wednesday, 5th June 2024, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the parking lot in front of the AIT Conference Center.

Give blood! You'll experience a fulfilling sense of contribution. And the donation process isn't time-consuming. It only takes about half an hour. For more information, please click.

4) Invitation to an international seminar “International CCUS Symposium: ‘Supercritical’ Pathways Toward Carbon Neutrality”

According to the Thailand Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage Alliance (TCCA) and the Chiang Mai Carbon Capture and Storage Research Group (Chiang Mai CCS), Chiang Mai University is set to host an international seminar titled “International CCUS Symposium: ‘Supercritical’ Pathways Toward Carbon Neutrality” on June 6, 2024, at the Novotel Bangkok Future Park Rangsit, Bangkok. 7) World Refugee Day at AIT on 26 June 2024
 
We are delighted to invite you to a workshop titled "Refugee Voices from Southeast Asia: Commemorating Refugee Day," scheduled for June 26, 2024, at the AIT Conference Center,  Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok. This event is organized in collaboration with Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), Asia Pacific, Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), Thailand, and Asylum Access, Thailand.
 
This workshop aims to amplify the voices of refugees from Myanmar and beyond, providing a platform for them to share their experiences and challenges.  The academic session  would include four speakers (refugees and practitioners) specifically elaborating upon issues pertaining to forced migration from the perspectives of the Rohingya refugee, new arrivals from Myanmar, those afflicted by trafficking and climate change induced displacement, which would be followed by a general round-table discussion with stakeholders from various sectors to foster a deeper understanding of the refugee crisis and exploring solutions tailored to the lived experiences of refugees.
 
The event will feature an exhibition of photographs, stalls showcasing refugee handicrafts and art forms. There will be a small fair where the refugee community will sell arts and crafts and offer services like henna painting and nail art. We invite you to join us in this holistic endeavor to show our solidarity towards their efforts. This would be a unique opportunity to directly support refugees by appreciating their talents and contributions.
 
Involving students from AIT and Thammasat University, the event will promote educational outreach and empathy towards the displaced. Additionally, the workshop will offer an opportunity for networking and collaboration among participants, helping to strengthen efforts towards refugee protection and advocacy in the region.
Join us for a day of meaningful engagement, cultural exchange, and heartfelt support. Your presence will not only enrich the discussions but also demonstrate a strong commitment to standing with the refugee community.
