The Library Modernization Fundraising Campaign this week broke the 40 million Baht barrier as major donations from the Na Lamphun family, Amata Corporation, alumna Ms. Loh Ai Lee, and SEAFCO Plc., pushed the campaign total to over 80% of its goal of 50 million Baht.

193 Million THB Campus Infrastructure Renovation gets go ahead from the Board of Trustees
On 26 February 2015 the meeting of the Board of Trustees approved AIT President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai’s proposal to replace, rejuvenate, and upgrade the entire backbone of the campus (1) the air-conditioning system, (2) the electrical system, (3) the water supply system, (4) the waste water system, and (5) the ground and pavement system. Together with the AIT library modernization, the Phase 2 will cost approximately193 million Thai Baht.

AIT President Worsak has formed the Campus Infrastructure Renovation Committee, which he will chair, and invited the following persons to serve as members:

The Campus Infrastructure Renovation Committee shall have the following Terms of Reference until all works are fully completed:
1. To oversee the plan and the design of the Infrastructure Renovation (Electricity, Supply Water, Waste Water, Air-conditioning, landscape & pavement).
2. To supervise the allocation of Phase II budget for all infrastructure renovation projects.
3. To monitor the progress of the infrastructure renovation works with reference to budgeting, scheduling, and quality of works.
4. Others as necessary to ensure that the works can be completed in time.
NSTDA offers to connect AIT faculty and researchers to Science Park R&D opportunities
On 6 March 2015, AIT Administration officials led by President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai had a meeting with the officials at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), which operates the Science Park adjacent to AIT. Both sides discussed areas of possible cooperation and the share of resources. NSTDA mentioned that Science Park provides space and services to many technology entities which are interested to use the expertise of AIT faculty and research staff. NSTDA can arrange for the visit of AIT faculty / staff to meet the executives of any of these companies to explore possible collaborations.

AIT signs MoU and MoA with Mitsubishi Rayon
On 16 March 2015, AIT and Mitsubishi Rayon will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Mitsubishi Rayon. The agreements will be signed by AIT President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai and Mr. Yasuo Yanagi, Director of Aqua Technology Administration Department, Mitsubishi Rayon.
New staff member at Admissions and Scholarship Office (ASO)
Miss. Suwannee Kumporn (Khun May) joined the Admissions and Scholarships Office as an Assistant Administrative Officer on 2 March 2015. She graduated from Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Pathumthani, majoring in English.

TOEIC Test by Career Center
The AIT Career Center is organizing a TOEIC Test on 25 March 2015 from 8.00 am -12.00 pm at the Milton Bender Auditorium. The deadline for the test registration and payment is18 March 2015. The TOEIC test questions are based on real-life work settings in an international environment. (Meetings, travel, telephone conversations, etc.) The Test is used by organizations to determine whether an employee is suitable for a particular task. If you want to work for a large organization, particularly in Asia, then the TOEIC test will be useful to you.
The price for students is 700 baht (discount from 1,500 baht) and for current AIT staff is 1,000 baht (discount from 1,500 baht).

Institute Wide Lecture on "Managing Natural Disasters in a Changing Climate: Methods and Tools for a Systems Approach"
Interested AIT faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend an Institute Wide Lecture delivered by Prof. Slobodan P. Simonovic of the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada, entitled "Managing Natural Disasters in a Changing Climate: Methods and Tools for a Systems Approach". The systems approach to managing disasters is the focus of this presentation, which outlines proven strategies for pooling interdisciplinary resources more efficiently to boost emergency responses.
