AIT Celebrates Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Fifth Cycle, or 60th Birthday Anniversary
AIT joins the nation to celebrate the year 2015 which is considered a significant year for Thailand, as it marks the auspicious occasion of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s fifth cycle, or 60th birthday anniversary.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn attended AIT in 1984 to study Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS-GIS). Applying her AIT classroom experience to practice, Her Royal Highness applied remote sensing technology to land use and land cover map projects to support the development of rural areas.

Call for Applications
PANACEA 2nd Call for Applications
A new call for application PANACEA Cohort-2 has just been opened. Applications for Master and Doctorate level are now invited to apply online:
http://www.panacea-mundus.eu/ . Closing of applications will be on 20March
2015.
Please be informed that this is a Second Call for applications, and so only a limited number of students will be accommodated. Nationalities that will be given higher priority are Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. May we request interested applicants to provide the necessary requirements and to strictly follow the instructions.
The applicants are advised to check website where you could easily find an answer for, before making any queries. Kindly also inform and consult your Advisor/Field of Study Coordinator/Supervisor (as appropriate) prior to the submission of any application and discuss the feasibility of attending courses in the proposed host university in Europe or research or work that could assist you in the program that you are attending or your work at AIT.
• The grants will cover travel, accommodation and insurance costs as well as tuition fees to enroll at the hosting university.
• Students: All mobilities are granted for exchanges. Therefore you need to be enrolled in an AIT program at the time your mobility start.
• All AIT applicants are considered TG1 (Target Group 1) = "students and academic registered in one of the universities members of the partnership" and Target 3(TG3) are people who are particularly in vulnerable situations, for social or political reasons. • Exclusion: You must have not received an EM Action 2 Scholarship received an EM Action 2 Scholarship for the level you are applying for and you must have not resided nor have carried out your main activity (studies, work, etc) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the European countries.
The mobility will start from September 2015 until July 2016 typically for a period of 10 months, depending on the choice of study at the Host University. Details are provided in the link http://www.panacea-mundus.eu/ during your registration.
Important: Once you have completed the online application, please submit a hard copy of your file to the Career Center, 1st floor of the Administration building.
We expect the results to be known around 3rd week of May, 2015.

Consequent to this, AIT appointed them as Visiting Professors. Six of them have already joined AIT.
School of Engineering and Technology
Dr. Bhagu Ram Chahar, a Visiting Professor at Water Engineering and Management (WEM) Field of Study, is Professor of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He was Visiting Professor at the Ecole des mines de Saint-Etienne, France. Prof. Chahar received his PhD in Civil Engineering from IIT Roorkee and MTech in Civil Engineering with specialisation Water Resources Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He has 22 years of teaching and research experience in water resources engineering and has published two books and more than 100 articles in reputed journals and proceedings. His current areas of research include groundwater modelling, seepage, subsurface drainage, urban drainage, channel design, numerical methods, and so forth.
Prof. Chahar is seconded to AIT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. During his stay at WEM/SET/AIT, he will teach the course CE74.52: Groundwater Development and Management. Dr. Arup Kumar Sarma, a Visiting Professor at Water Engineering and Management (WEM), is Professor of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. He was honored with prestigious B.P.Chaliha Chair
Professor for Water Resources by Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India (2009-2014). He has to his credit more than 100 technical papers published in national and international journals, books and in conference proceedings. Prof. Sarma has guided 49 M.Techs and 6 Ph.Ds in the field of Water Resources and at present 8 PhD research scholars are working with him. The NPTEL video course on Hydraulic Engineering developed by Prof. Sarma entered into the top 5 highest viewed course. He has completed 20 sponsored research projects and 36
consultancy projects from India and abroad.
Prof. Sarma is seconded to AIT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. During his stay at WEM/SET/AIT, he will teach the course CE 74.53: Land and Water Conservation and Management. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Nema of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal (MANIT), India, has joined the Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE) Program as Visiting Professor.
Dr. Nema earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering from Bhopal University, India. During his stay at ISE/AIT, he will teach Mixed Signal IC Design (AT 81.11).
He has been seconded to AIT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. During his secondment at AIT, his coordinates will be as follows: Room: 206 (Chalerm Prakiat Building)
Dr. Ravipudi Venkata Rao, a Visiting Professor at Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE) Programme of Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, is a Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the S. V. National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat, India. He received his BTech degree from Nagarjuna University, MTech degree from BHU Varanasi, and PhD degree from BITS Pilani, India. He has about 25 years of teaching and research experience. He has authored about 300 research papers published in reputed international journals and conference proceedings. He has received many awards for his research works. He is also on the editorial boards of various international journals. His research interests include advanced engineering optimisation techniques, fuzzy multiple attribute decision making, advanced manufacturing processes, automation and robotics. He has authored 5 books based on his research works and the books have been published by Springer-Verlag London, UK. He has handled several research projects funded by government agencies including the joint research projects with Russia, Austria and Slovenia. He has conducted more than 20 short term training programs and 6 international conferences.
Prof. Ravipudi Venkata Rao is seconded to Asian Institute of Technology by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. During his stay at ISE/AIT, he will teach Inventory and Logistic Management (AT 72.09). School of Environment, Resources and Development
Dr. Mohammad Jawed, a Visiting Professor at Urban Environmental Management (UEM) Field of Study, is Professor of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Prof. Jawed graduated from Aligarh Muslim University (India) in Civil Engineering and earned his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India) in the area of Environmental Engineering.
He has more than 18 years of teaching experience. He has carried out extensive research in the area of anaerobic wastewater treatment and is presently focusing his research attention on water treatment-related issues with special emphasis on rural water supply. He has guided 2 doctoral and 15 master’s theses and published more than 70 research articles/papers in referred journals and conference proceedings.
Prof. Jawed is seconded to AIT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. During his stay at UEM/SERD/AIT, he will teach the course ED79.04: Environmental Science and Technology for Decision Makers.
