WEEK# 40, 12 – 18 October 2020
In this issue:
1. Latest on the AIT OQ
Email was sent from the Director, Office of Academic Administration on 7 October 2020
Dear AIT Family:
The AIT COVID-19 Task Force wants to inform you of two latest developments regarding AIT students in our Organizational Quarantine (OQ) facility.
One student tested positive and was transported by a Thammasat University Hospital ambulance to the Hospital on Tuesday, 6 October. This case was announced today by the Thai Government. He is undergoing treatment at the Hospital, and our thoughts are with him on a quick and complete recovery.
However, Thammasat University Hospital informed us that the AIT OQ student who tested positive last week actually did not have active disease but was positive for COVID-19 antibody. Therefore, after a test today which produced a negative result, Thammasat University Hospital has declared this student is well and is transferring him back to AIT OQ. He will undergo further quarantine for 14 days. AIT will observe him closely during this additional period at OQ, and give him further testing, before he can move to his SI quarters.
You can be assured that AIT is extremely cautious in protecting our community and all our students, and DDC is working with us every step of the way on our operation of the OQ. Thammasat University Hospital is also giving us very close medical support.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We urge you to continue to be vigilant with social distancing, wearing of face masks, and with personal hygiene, and avoiding crowded places.
