Campus Update
Protect yourself from H1N1 and Seasonal Flu
The AIT Medical Clinic informs the AIT Community that there are a few reported cases of H1N1 Influenza (also known as Pandemic 2009 Flu or Swine Flu) in Bangkok and in near-by communities. The virus has killed more than 18,000 people (World-wide) since it appeared in April 2009.
Symptoms of H1N1 are high fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue, sometimes diarrhea and vomiting, if anyone is experiencing these symptoms, he/she should immediately seek for a medical care. The test for Influenza is available in AIT Clinic (cost Baht-450 each).
Despite being informally called “swine flu”, the H1N1 flu virus cannot be spread by eating pork or pork products. Similar to other influenza viruses, it is typically contracted by person to person transmission through respiratory droplets, i.e. coughing, sneezing or talking to people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something – such as a surface or object – with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose. Symptoms usually last 7-10 days.
Fortunately, this virus responds well to the antiviral agents (Oseltamivir or Zanamivir). Oseltamivir is available in AIT Clinic. Vaccination to prevent this virus is possible and is recommended for those in high-risk group (old age, diabetic, hypertension, asthmatic, chronic renal failure or chronic illness or close contact to patients suffering from influenza). As the vaccine will be made available on request, please register your name to AIT Clinic during the period from 25-30 September 2014 (each vaccination cost Baht-400).

Library’s Service during Renovation
As the AIT Library is affecting under renovation, staff members of the Library have tried their best to avoid library users by dividing the Library's area on the second floor into 3 zones and closing one zone at a time for the renovation. Zone 2 where most of the Library materials are located will be closed for the renovation from Monday 29th September through 20th October 2014. Also, the book shelves will be covered during this period of time. Thus, book check-out service will not be available until the renovation in that area is finished. The seats will not be available either. For other library services like book check-in, reference service, interlibrary loan, online databases, users can still contact the Library for those services since the Library is still open.

Video competition : A day in the life of an AIT student
A video competition "A day in the life of an AIT student" is being organized by the Media and Communications Unit (MCU) along with the AIT Student Union.
Judging criterion :
(1) Creativity (30 %)
(2) Technique (30 %)
(3) Overall impact (40%)
Entries not following the time limit will not be considered for the award. The decision of the judges will be final. For any questions, ask the Media and Communications Unit (mcu@ait.ac.th).
