Re-engagement of former faculty as “Distinguished Adjunct Faculty”

AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai informed the AIT Community that the institute is now preparing a new Policy and Procedure Statement to formalize a new model for re-engagement of former faculty members. President Worsak has received a large amount of feedback on the initiative. Hopefully the re-engagement will kick-off from the beginning of next year.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and its Grand Challenges partners are now accepting applications for grant programs – for more information on these programs please visit the grant opportunities page at: www.grandchallenges.org

Initial grants will be US $100,000 each, and projects showing promise will have the opportunity to receive additional funding of up to US $1 million. Full descriptions of the new topics and application instructions are available at: www.grandchallenges.org/explorations  

AIT International School updates

*Visitors to AITIS need to get permission from the school office before entering the school premises for safety reasons.

*On November 6, AITIS celebrated the Loy Krathong Festival at the school’s premises.

*AITIS staff members had a Professional Development Workshop on November 8.

* On Friday, November 14, AITIS will have its Parent-Teacher Conference. There will be no school for the children.

AIT Drinking Water (size of 600 ml.) is now available for sale at the AIT Conference Center at a special price: Dozen, 65 Baht (12 bottles = 5.42/bottle); Dining room price is 15 Baht/bottle. AIT Short Film Festival

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Short Film Festival will be organized on Wednesday, 12 November 2014 at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium from 15:00-16:30 hours. Organized by the Media and Communications Unit and the Student Union the film festival will showcase the six videos prepared by students of the AIT who participated in the video competition: “A day in the life of an AIT student” held in October 2014. The event will be followed by a prize distribution ceremony.

AIT, NSTDA and TU Mini-marathon

AIT-NSTDA-TU are jointly organizing a 6-km Mini-marathon on Friday, 14 November 2014. The race will start at Thammasat University around 7:00 am, and will end at AIT.  Mini-marathon participants from AIT will be taken to Thammasat University before the race.
