1) Promotion of Dr. Avishek Datta and Dr. Huynh Trung Luong from the rank of Associate Professor to Full Professor

Dear Members of the AIT Community,

I am pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Avishek Datta and Dr. Huynh Trung Luong from the rank of Associate Professor to Full Professor, following the approval of the Board of the Trustees at its meeting held on the 4th of August 2022.  

Dr. Datta joined AIT as an Assistant Professor in the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) in 2012 and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2016. He obtained his Ph.D. in Agronomy from the University of New England, Armidale, New South Wales, Australia in 2008. Dr. Datta earned his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science (Honors) degrees in Agronomy from the BC State Agricultural University, Nadia, West Bengal, India in 2002 and 2000, respectively. Dr. Datta’s research encompasses the areas of crop water management, crop tolerance to soil and environmental stresses, climate change and food security, climate-smart agriculture, crop nutrient management, organic agriculture, and integrated pest management practice.

Dr. Luong joined AIT as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) in 2003 and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2009. He obtained both his Doctor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees in Industrial Systems Engineering from AIT in 2000 and 1995, respectively. He was the recipient of AIT’s James A. Linen III Memorial Prize for the most outstanding academic performance in 1995. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam in 1992. Dr. Luong’s research focuses on operations research applications such as inventory control and management, maintenance management, supply chain management – particularly on the analysis of Bullwhip effect in supply chain.

2. AIT Institute Wide Orientation

Our Orientation Program for new incoming students for August Intake, 2022, will be held on 8 August 2022 at 9am at Robert B. Banks (RBB) Auditorium, AIT Conference Center, we also provide a Zoom Meeting for those students who are not currently in Thailand yet.  In this regard, your participation in this program would be highly appreciated
