1) New Entry Requirements to Thailand and Updates from the AIT COVID-19 Task Force
Email from Director, Office of Academic Administration on 30 May 2022.
Dear AIT Family,
As you will have seen from the news, the Government of Thailand has further relaxed the COVID-19 measures inside the country as well as for incoming travelers from 1 June 2022 with easing of restrictions and no quarantine requirement for all incoming travelers.
Thailand State of Emergency and Campus Arrangements – The Thailand State of Emergency was extended until 31 July 2022. With occasional positive cases of AIT community members, it was decided to extend and continue the Hybrid mode of instruction, and staggered workdays or shift work up to 50% of the workforce until 30 June 2022. We will monitor the situation closely to see when we could eventually transition to full workforce reporting to the office, and will make adjustments depending on the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic as endemic by the Thai Government and the situation on campus.
For the inter-semester and June term, the Hybrid mode of instruction for large lectures or classes can resume in appropriate venues and also in SMCs (Smart Modified Classrooms) at up to 75% of their full capacity to allow for social distancing.
With the eased requirements and processes for entry into Thailand (see next item), our students from overseas should strive to arrive in Thailand in time for the Fall 2022 semester. Hybrid instruction will likely continue during this semester, but in-person attendance is more and more expected as time goes on.
New Entry Requirements to Thailand – From 1 June 2022, Thai citizens will be exempted from Thailand Pass registration. Foreign nationals are still required to apply for a Thailand Pass (https://tp.consular.go.th) and must submit (i) a vaccination record or COVID-19 test result; (ii) proof of US$10,000 health insurance policy; and (iii) passport details. The Thailand Pass will function as a pre-arrival registration for foreign travel, not as an approval system. In other words, the Thailand Pass QR Code will be auto-generated immediately after registration, to be simpler, convenient, and faster. Please note that the files to be uploaded need to be in JPG or JPEG formats.
Gatherings – Gatherings of up to 100 persons (indoors) and 200 persons (outdoors) are now allowed, but social distancing must still be observed. The Task Force must be informed of gatherings of 25 or more participants.
Food outlets – Full seating capacity is allowed in all eateries on campus.
Travels – Members of the AIT community must notify the AIT COVID-19 Task Force (covid19tf@ait.asia) of any inbound and outbound international travel. The TF need not be informed of domestic travels.
Revised Guidelines after recovering from COVID-19 – The additional 3-day Self-Isolation (SI) will no longer be required for individuals who have recovered from COVID-19, i.e., after one completes the required quarantine and recovery period. They will, however, be required to do an ATK test on Day 10 (from testing positive for COVID-19), and if the result is negative, can already return to office or attend classes and other meetings/events in person.
For full details on the relaxed or liberalized as well as current/continuing measures, please consult the COVID-19 Intranet page where all COVID-19 related information and updates from the Task Force are available.
Thank you.

2) [Invitation] World Environment Day Celebration | 02 June 2022 |11:00-14:00 hrs. | AIT Pond Area
Dear AIT Community
The World Environment Day (WED), which is celebrated annually on June 5, is the United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. This year’s WED will focus on 3 major themes, namely: Climate, Nature and Chemicals & Pollution. With its campaign, #OnlyOneEarth, it calls for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet.
Truly transformative options towards sustainability need to be available, affordable, and attractive for people to make better daily decisions. Hence, the Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP), in partnership with the School of Environment, Resource and Development (SERD), and the Office of Sustainable Campus (OSC), cordially invite you to join the World Environment Day celebration on 02 June 2022 (Thursday) from 11:00am to 2:00pm, at the AITCC Pond area.
Don’t forget to bring your reusable shopping bags, food containers, and eating utensils and experience green shopping practice at our Sustainable Bazar. Showcase your talents through various competitions such as Photography and Sustainable Fashion. Be aware of the hazards our local community is facing. Take inspiration from our model sustainable kitchen. Know that solutions and technologies exist and are increasingly available.
Shop sustainably. Eat sustainably. Live sustainably. It's time to commit for Earth Action. We have #OnlyOneEarth. Let's take care of it.
For more information and registrations, please visit our website.
Best regards,
Dr. Naoya Tsukamoto
Director, RRC.AP
