(i)Intellectual Property Support Office (IPSO)

Email from VP Knowledge Transfer (28 May 2019)

 Dear Colleagues,

We are setting up an IP Support Office (IPSO) at the Institute. This office is part of a comprehensive ecosystem being established to aid in the knowledge and technology transfer and entrepreneurship development.

The purpose of this office will be to provide advise, support and assistance in identifying the research outcome that can be protected through trademarks, patenting or licensing.  This in line with the existing P&P of the Institute regarding intellectual property. (AA-5-1-1)

The office will draw on, and build upon the existing initiatives and expertise available in the institute for this purpose.  An advisory group will soon be formed to provide technical guidance and oversea the activities of the IPSO.

I would like to request and encourage colleagues involved in research and development, including sponsored projects to please reach out to this office if you feel any of your ideas and research can be or should be protected and may be suitable for transfer or licensing to industry.

The office is coordinated by Ms Pondchanok Piraintorn at pondchanok@ait.asia . You can also reach the IPSO through ipso@ait.asia

Through this email, may I also invite those who would like to serve on the IP Advisory Group,

Please feel free to contact me for additional information or advise.

World Environment Day (WED) is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

Commemorated yearly on 5 June, the theme for 2019 is “Air pollution”.  This year Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) in cooperation with the School of Environment Resources and Development (SERD AIT) is initiating the commemoration within the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).  The celebration starts in the morning by tree planting, in the afternoon a special talk on the topic “Beat Air Pollution” and concluding with a fun run around the campus in the late afternoon.
