SET welcomes two new seconded faculty members – Dr. Deepak Sharma and Dr. Shrikrishna Nandkishor Joshi
School of Engineering and Technology (SET) welcomes two new seconded faculty members, Dr. Deepak Sharma and Dr. Shrikrishna Nandkishor Joshi, who joined Industrial Systems Engineering Field of Study as Visiting Assistant Professors, starting from 14 September and 11 September 2015, respectively.
Dr. Deepak Sharma is seconded to AIT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. He is an Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, Assam, India. He received his Master and PhD degrees from IIT Kanpur, India in2004 and 2010, respectively. His current research areas are System Design Optimization, Genetic Algorithms, Multi-objective Optimization, GPU Computing for Finite Element Analysis. Dr. Sharma has worked with various international research teams in Finland, France, Singapore, and Germany. He has received NVIDIA-Innovation award 2014 and, Best Paper Awards in IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation conferences in 2007 and 2008. He is a reviewer of many peer reviewed journals and conferences. He is also member of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Association ofComputing Machinery (SIGEVO), and American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME). He has published around 25 papers in high impact peer reviewed journals and conference, and also has written many book chapters. He has organized three short term courses and skill development programs for academicians and executives of public enterprises from India.
During his stay at ISE/AIT, he will be teaching Deterministic Optimization Models (AT 72.01) in August 2015 semester.

Dr. Shrikrishna Joshi is seconded to AIT by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. He received his Ph.D in “Intelligent process modeling and optimization of electric discharge machining” from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India in the year of 2010. He has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, India. His research interests are laser based manufacturing, ultr-precision machining, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and, manufacturing process modeling and optimization. Dr. Joshi has about 30 papers published in journals and conferences of national/international repute and has edited a book on “Laser-based manufacturing, Spinger” along with Prof. U. S. Dixit, IIT Guwahati. He has also authored four book chapters in the books published at international level.
He will be responsible to teach the course AT73.02: Advanced Manufacturing Processes, 3(3-0) in August 2015 Semester.

1- AIT / ICT-ASIA: Additional ICT-ASIA Grant with the Asian Institute of Technology. Max 143 000 EUR for 2-year projects. Teams: at least 3 research centers: 1 AIT, 1 French, 1 other Asian. Directed at fundamental research in ICT.

ABU Asia Pacific Robot Contest
Thailand will host ABU Asia Pacific Robot Contest next year under the theme "Clean Energy Recharging the World", organized by Thailand’s Channel 9 (MCOT)
The contest’s rules were announced on 23 August 2015 in Indonesia. The rules are specified by an academic committee chaired by Dr. Manukid Parnichkun of Mechatronics Program, School of Engineering and Technology.

NSTDA-EURAXESS Slam Competition
NSTDA- Euraxess Slam Competition is open to researchers (from masters students to advanced researchers) of all nationalities and research fields currently based in Thailand.
