ABOUT MR. WANG SHI:
Mr. Wang Shi is the founder and Honorary Chairman of China Vanke Co., Ltd. He founded Vanke in 1984 and led it to grow into the world’s largest residential home developer and a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Wang is a respected leader in China’s environmental conservation and charitable community. Mr. Wang sits on the board of World Wildlife Fund US and the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council, with focus on forest, biodiversity, and climate change. >From January 2011, Mr. Wang Shi started to study in reputed western education institutions, specializing in business ethics and cross cultural research. Mr. Wang Shi was visiting scholar in Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford and The Hebrew University. Mr. Wang reached the peak of Mount Everest from North and South faces in 2003 and 2010 respectively. He is the 11th person the world to accomplish “7+2” – reaching the Seven Summits in 2004 and North and South Poles in 2005. Besides, Mr. Wang Shi is widely interested in outdoor exercises and enthusiastic in gliding, paragliding, and rowing. He is the record keeper for paragliding height in China. He acted as the voice chairman for the Chinese Mountaineering Association, vice chairman for the Chinese Rowing Association. In October 2014, Mr. Wang Shi was elected Chairman for the Asian Rowing Federation, taking the responsibility for leading and promoting rowing in Asia. In August 2018, he was bestowed as honorary life president of the Asian Rowing Federation.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB), in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is organizing a launch of its book entitled "Infrastructure Financing in Asia" on 25 November 2019 at the Robert B. Banks Auditorium, Asian Institute of Technology Conference Center, Thailand.
The book features the state-of-the-art in filling up the finance gap in infrastructure investments in Asia, a theme that is highly relevant for many developed and developing economies in the region. It is edited by ADB Vice-President for Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development Bambang Susantono together with Principal Economist Donghyun Park and Economist Shu Tian.

(iv) Inauguration Ceremony of AIT Belt and Road Research Center
To incorporate regional research resources and promote diversified cooperation under the framework of the Belt & Road Initiative, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will launch its Belt and Road Research Center on 28 November 2019, from 11:00 a.m. – 12 noon, at the Lobby of Administration Building.
The AIT Belt and Road Research Center will delicate to serve the regional social and economic sustainability through innovative and collaborative research and capacity building activities. The center is contributed by the AIT Alumni China Chapter.

(vi) AIT Roadshow Bangkok is coming – 1 Dec. 2019
The wait is almost over. AIT Roadshow Bangkok is coming.
For parents and students, it's a 'can't miss' opportunity to learn more about the essential academic programs and cutting-edge research taking place at the Asian Institute of Technology. Meet faculty deans, lecturers, and the scholarship officers to learn what it takes to gain admission. The event will also feature an English Writing workshop to give students tips and tricks to acing the AIT English Entry Test.
The AIT Roadshow Bangkok will be held on 1 December 2019 at the AIT downtown campus (Column Tower) on Sukhumvit 16.

(vii) Important Changes on Admissions Requirements

Dear Academic Program Chairs, Department Heads, and School Deans,
Based on the recommendations of the Admissions Committee, which were approved by the AGT, the following important changes have been made in the admissions requirements:
1) No more offering of “certificate leading to Master Program” and “CAS leading to Doctoral program” to avoid confusion and possible misunderstanding with the applicant. Therefore, applicant with the low CPGA (below 2.75) to be admitted to Master program (provided the academic program agrees) with the condition to achieve minimum cPGA of 2.75 in the first two semesters. Similar conditions to be followed for Doctoral applicants but at cGPA of 3.50.
2) Applicants for non-doctoral programs need not submit recommendation letters. For special cases, program /department can ask for the letter of recommendation for authentication;
3) Applicants applying for the full scholarships monitored by AIT are not required to submit nomination form;
4) AIT Fellowship to be termed as "AIT Partial Scholarships" in all internal documents;
5) The term “financial aid” mentioned in the online application system is removed.
6) Applications of applicants who are not able to pay the processing fees are to be processed internally, but reminded in the acknowledgement note to pay the fees. However, if still not paid, a conditional offer letter can be issued mentioning the fee (800 baht/25 US Dollar);
7) Accept good applicants with low English score and provide them an English-bridging course. If they pass, the cost of Bridging Program (BP) is to be supported by the program. The six week BP program should be arranged in June to July to target for the August Intake. The date of BP must be calendared.

Geoinformatics Center of AIT (GIC/AIT) together with the Center for Spatial Information Science of The University of Tokyo (CSIS/UT) and International Committee on GNSS (ICG) are taking initiatives to create awareness on GNSS and its applications in Asia and the Pacific region.

The “Sustainable Agriculture, Agribusiness and Value Chain Management in Thailand” is a one-week long professional development program, which has been designed to address the key issues dealing by the agriculturists and development professionals in other countries often with similar or different agro-ecological zones. At the end of this program, participants are expected to widen their views and understandings on modern and sustainable farming practices in different agro-ecological zones including low land or wetland ecosystems.

(b) Biofloc Technology Training Program: 2 – 7 Dec. 2019
A Training Program on Biofloc Technology organized by Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) Program of AIT will be held from 2 - 7 December 2019 at the AIT Conference Center.
