2) Update - Thailand Situation and Additional AIT Restrictions

Email from the Director, Office of Academic Administration on 2 January 2020

Dear AIT Community:

Happy New Year to you!  Unfortunately, Thailand is greeting the beginning of 2021 with an increasing number of COVID-19 cases.  Therefore, we urge you to be extra careful, and if you are still away on holiday in other parts of Thailand, please be safe and make your way back as soon as you can, as the situation is getting worse and additional measures are being imposed daily.

As for AIT, we are also taking precautionary measures which are gradually more restrictive, so please pay attention to these AIT COVID-19 Task Force messages frequently, and check our Intranet also.  Policies will be changing all the time to fit the developing circumstances.  For now, please pay heed to the following:

1.Work From Home for AIT offices will be in effect until further notice, except for mission-essential staff whose supervisors should stagger their hours to minimise staff appearances in the office, as was done in the Spring.

2.As you know, the Spring Semester at AIT is scheduled to begin on January 11.  However, a decision will be made by the middle of next week, with more details given then—including whether to continue Hybrid Instruction or go entirely Interactive Online, and for how long.

3.We are working hard to keep AIT safe, and our OQ remains open and ready to receive those overseas students who are planning to enter Thailand and come on AIT campus.

4.On-campus gatherings of any size larger than 25 will not be allowed, and organisers of any gathering of more than 10 people must receive permission from the AIT COVID-19 Task Force.

5.Closures — All indoor sports / fitness: e.g. SU Gym, China Center, swimming pool; as well as the Thai massage shop will be closed until further notice.

6.Food outlets — In keeping with Pathum Thani policy, there will be no dine-in at all food outlets on campus, with only take-away allowed, until further notice.

Please take note of the last three Task Force messages with measures due to this Second Wave, including the Self-Isolation (SI) requirements.  In general, if you are returning from elsewhere in Thailand, it would be prudent for you to exercise self-monitoring for 14 days and refrain from going outside or having meetings for 7 days.

We want you to know that AIT takes strict measures to protect our community, and all of us now need to be very vigilant and cooperative to keep our community and our campus safe during this Second Wave.  We thank you for your cooperation.

3) AIA Medical Insurance Coverage for 2020-2021

Email from the Office of Human Resources Services on 31 December 2020

Dear AIA Medical Insurance Policy Holders,

This is to kindly inform you that AIA has updated their information system so that you can now avail your medical benefits according to your plan, i.e. basic plan and top-up plan. For the top-up plan for dependent(s), kindly note that the medical insurance coverage will take effect only after their health declaration has passed the AIA assessment.

The medical insurance coverage for dependent(s) will be separated as follows:

From 31 December 2020 to 4 January 2021: The medical coverage will still be under the basic plan.

From 5 January 2021 to 30 December 2021: Should they pass the medical health assessment, their medical coverage will be changed to the top-up plan that they have selected. Otherwise, they will be covered under the basic plan.  Employees will be informed accordingly should their dependent(s) have passed the health assessment.

AIA would also like to introduce its cardless and eCard system where the insured members can avail their medical insurance coverage by using their Thai national ID, passport (for foreigners), or eCard on AIA iService mobile application. Enclosed are the user manuals for your easy reference.

You can go to any AIA network hospital if you need to see a doctor. Please present either of the above alternatives or you can also present your physical AIA insurance card and your passport or Thai national ID at the hospital’s reception counter.

OHRS will announce once the new AIA medical insurance cards are available.

Wishing you all a wonderful new year!!
