A. Announcements

1) Update from AIT COVID-19 Task Force—Relaxation of Some Measures on 1 March

Email from the Director, Office of Academic Administration on 28 February 2021.

Dear AIT Family,

Overall Thailand Situation, Pathum Thani and Relaxation of Measures Effective 1 March 2021 – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has approved the easing of restrictions as the situation is slowly getting better in most parts of the country, with lower numbers of cases in each province in Thailand.  Provinces that were previously categorized as High Controlled Areas, namely Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan, have moved down one tier to Controlled Area.  Only Samut Sakhon still remains in the highest level of maximum and strict controlled area.  The Pathum Thani public health office has allowed the Pornpat and Suchart markets to re-open, which had been ordered shut for cleaning and disinfection after the outbreak of COVID-19 cases in the two markets.

In light of the gradual improvement in the overall COVID-19 situation in Thailand and especially Pathum Thani, starting on Monday, 1 March, the earlier AIT advice of "strongly encouraging the AIT community not to visit anywhere in Pathumthani province outside of our gate", is now relaxed.  In addition, Work From Home is no longer necessary for AIT community members who reside in the Pathum Thani province.  Classes, of course, continue in Hybrid Instruction format.

Visitors to AIT – Casual day-visitor access to buy take-out food and refreshments or just visit AIT no longer need a host to be granted access to AIT.

Other Policies – All the other earlier announced policies still stand, but please check with the Task Force if you have any queries and also visit the Intranet page where all COVID-19 related information and updates from the Task Force are available.  Please stay updated on news from the Government of Thailand and other updates from the AIT COVID-19 Task Force.

The COVID-19 pandemic is still continuing, and the coronavirus is very tricky, so all of us should still be very careful.  We urge you to continue to maintain a high level of safety and hygiene measures, like regularly washing your hands, wearing masks in public places and when in the company of people, maintaining social distancing, avoiding large crowds, and please visit the AIT Medical Center if you feel unwell.  We must all continue to remain vigilant even as restrictions are being relaxed.

B. Events

Training Courses/ Conferences/ Workshops

1) 100 Innovations x Entrepreneurs : What Drives the Future?

WHAT DRIVES THE FUTURE?

The first 100 Innovations x Entrepreneurs (100X) event was organized by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 2019 as Southeast Asia’s first Research-to-Commercial conference to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The event also served as the venue to launch AIT’s Entrepreneurship Center, a breeding ground for future business leaders as well as a learning center with the ultimate goal of enhancing economic and social development. As our signature annual event, this year also AIT is organizing the second 100X in a new normal hybrid mode, a combination of online and in-person to also reach out to more people from different parts of the world. The theme for this event is What Drives the Future with a mindset to rethink our future by focusing on how we can improve the basic human needs such as Food, WellBeing, Living, Education, and Communication in context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).We believe that collaboration among different stakeholders: University, Industry, Government, and Civil Society is the key to safeguard our future and each stakeholder has a critical role to play in achieving the SDGs. Through this event, AIT, as one of the stakeholders, is reaching out to the Government, Industry and Civil Society to collaborate with us as co-organizer, partner, and participants.
