WEEK# 11, 15 – 21 March 2021
In this issue:
1) Update from the AIT COVID-19 Task Force
Email sent from the Director, Office of Academic Administration on 12 March 2021
Dear AIT Family,
Organizational Quarantine (OQ) Updates -- We wish to inform you that two students in our Organizational Quarantine (OQ) tested positive for COVID-19 and were transported on 11 March from the OQ and AIT campus by a Thammasat University Hospital ambulance for treatment at the Hospital. One of them is an AIT student while the other student is from Thammasat University. As you are aware, AIT has also been accommodating some of Thammasat University's overseas students, as a friendly gesture to our hospital partner and neighbor. We wish these students a speedy and complete recovery.
In our earlier communication we had informed you that three students in our OQ had tested positive for COVID-19, and were transported to Thammasat University Hospital for treatment on 9, 16 and 18 February respectively. We are pleased to inform you that after undergoing treatment at TUH they were all transferred to the AIT OQ, and have cleared all of the quarantine formalities on 8 March and have resumed their studies, with complete free movement on or off campus.
Our OQ continues to run smoothly and receive overseas international students. As of 11 March, a total of 208 AIT students from overseas will have entered our OQ, broken down as follows: Continuing Students (37), New Students - Fall 2020 (119); New Students - Spring 2021 (52). To date, 202 of the OQ students have successfully gone through the OQ, with 4 of them in SI. Six others are currently still in the OQ. Twelve of our OQ students have so far tested positive for COVID-19. Eleven of them are now healthy after treatment in Thammasat University Hospital (TUH) and completely free in their movement. With the new positive case, we currently only have one AIT student undergoing treatment at TUH. To date, a total of 60 T hammasat University students have gone through our OQ, and we currently have one TU student at the OQ. So far, only one TU OQ student has tested positive for COVID-19 and is receiving treatment in TUH.
Visitors -- From 1 April 2021, overnight visitors will be ALLOWED at the AIT Conference Center Hotel and no longer need an AIT host or sponsor and only if they are not from Samut Sakhon Province which is still a maximum control zone (red).
Other Policies – All the other earlier announced policies still stand and please check with the Task Force if you have any queries and also visit the Intranet page where all COVID-19 related information and updates from the Task Force are available.
Please stay updated on news from the Government of Thailand and other updates from the AIT COVID-19 Task Force. We urge you to continue to maintain a high level of safety and hygiene measures, like regularly washing your hands, wearing masks in public places and when in the company of people, maintaining social distancing, avoiding large crowds, and please visit the AIT Medical Center if you feel unwell. We must all continue to remain vigilant even as restrictions are being relaxed.
