Dr. Peeyush Soni promoted to the rank of Associate Professor
AIT President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai on 16 March 2015 approved the promotion of Dr. Peeyush Soni to the rank of Associate Professor in the AIT School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), taking into account the positive recommendations of the Faculty Evaluation Panel (FEP) and the SERD Professorial Board.
Dr. Soni joined AIT as an Assistant Professor in the School of Environment, Resources and Development in June 2012. Prior to this, he held the Senior Instructor/Instructor positions at SERD from September 2010 to May 2012. Dr. Soni obtained both his Master of Engineering (Agriculture) and Doctor of Engineering (Agriculture) degrees from AIT in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering from the College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur (India) Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, (MPUAT), Rajasthan, India in 2001.
Dr. Soni’s research encompasses the areas of terramechanics, agricultural instrumentation, controlled environment agriculture, agricultural systems analysis, and analytical techniques.

A three-member team of students representing the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) once again grabbed 1st prize at the annual forestry policy debate competition organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Bangkok, Thailand.

Condolences
The AIT Community expresses its condolences and sympathies to Mrs. Farzana Asim, Teacher in AITIS, whose father, Prof. Maajid Siddiqui, passed away on 20 March 2015. His funeral took place the same evening in Pakistan. He was a very famous and renowned poet and writer, and his passing has been a great loss to both his family and his nation.

NSTDA R&D Tax Incentive Scheme Discussion Meeting
Prof. Kanchana Kanchanasut, Vice President for Research, invites interested faculty and researchers to attend a meeting to discuss the R&D Tax Incentive Scheme by NSTDA and the Task Force Recommendations on AIT Research projects. At the meeting, a team from NSTDA will explain the procedures and guidelines of the R&D Tax incentive scheme which provides an excellent opportunity to enhance our Private Sector collaborations.
