Announcements
Appointment of Interim Dean of the School of Management
I am also pleased to announce that Professor M. Nazrul Islam has agreed to serve as Interim Dean of the School of Management from 1 July 2015 until we are able to find a replacement. This appointment is concurrent to his current position as Visiting Professor and Academic Coordinator in the School of Management.
A Search Committee for the position of Dean of the School of Management has already been formed. The Executive Committee, in its 15 December 2014 meeting, suggested the following guideline on the recruitment of the new SOM Dean. Subsequently, the AIT Board of Trustees, in its 15 February 2015 meeting, approved my proposal to start an international search process for an internationally renowned SOM Dean, with a premium salary package.
It reads:
"In order to enhance the reputation of AIT which will attract not only the number, but also the quality of student enrolment, the first step is to recruit a renowned reputable professor to serve as the School Dean by offering a premium compensation package. Without a well-established School Dean, recruitment for rising-star faculty members will always face a problem. Nowadays, before top students make a decision regarding their universities, they often look at the profile of faculty members."
We wish Professor Islam every success on this additional assignment and wish him well in carrying out this additional administrative task.
