(i) Positioning AIT’s Future: President Worsak presents mid-term report to the Board of Trustees

While 2014 was the year of restraint, rehabilitation and reflection, 2015 had AIT bouncing back to life. AIT plugged the leaks and reinvigorated the three most important parts of the AIT engine - faculty, students and finances. The year 2016 has so far witnessed a strengthening of local partnerships, expansion of international cooperation, new initiatives, consolidation of AIT’s position in international rankings, and internal restructuring. This now paves the way to positioning AIT’s future in 2017-18.

Two years after he was appointed President of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai presented his mid-term report to the AIT Board of Trustees on 14 July 2016.

The narrative report traces developments ever since Prof. Worsak was appointed the Institute’s eighth president on 17 July 2014, which made him the first AIT alumnus, the first Asian and the first Thai national to assume this position. In the report, the AIT President highlights the achievements during the past two years, and lays out his vision for the next two.

“AIT should position itself as a global research institute for mankind,” Prof. Worsak says, adding that this way AIT will be providing a rare opportunity for its international students to emerge as “global citizens.” AIT must continue to offer itself a neutral platform for international scholars to share their experiences and learn from each other in the interest of the region and the entire world, he adds.

The Mid-Term Report can be read at this link : http://goo.gl/ikIz0N

A Photo Folio of the the preceding two years is available at this link: http://goo.gl/YsIBVs
