AIT and NSTDA to launch a joint academic cooperation
AIT and National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) will launch a joint academic cooperation between both parties at the Agreement Signing Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, 29 June 2016 at the AIT Conference Center, AIT Campus in Pathumthani province.
According to the agreement, NSTDA will send 11 Thai experts / researchers in various fields to serve as special faculty members to teach AIT students and to conduct joint research at AIT. The researchers are from: BIOTEC, NECTEC, MTEC, and NANOTEC, Royal Thai Government.
At the ceremony, Dr. Hiroyuki Konuma, Senior Advisor to the AIT President and former FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific, will deliver a Keynote Lecture on the topic “ World Food Security and Role of Research and Science ”.
Call for Abstracts for a Conference on "Water Security and Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities in Asia"
AIT (through one of its Asia Pacific Network (APN) on Global Change Research project) in association with Exceed centers CNRD (Cologne) and SWINDON (Braunschweig) in Germany will organize a conference on "Water Security and Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities in Asia". The relevant details of the conference are:

Where? AIT Conference Center, Bangkok, Thailand
Who can Attend? Academicians, practitioners, development workers, public sector officials, policy makers, private sector delegates, and students.

The 2015 Stockholm Prize (the world's most prestigious water award) Laureate, Rajendra Singh, will make a special keynote address in the conference.
The call for abstracts is now open. Limited financial support is available for participants from Asian universities. Participation as observers is also welcome.

Project Opportunities in Azerbaijan and Myanmar
As part of the CTCN project, there are requests for technical assistance received from:
- Azerbaijan titled “Strengthening Capacities to Assess Climate Change Vulnerability and Impacts to Shape Investments in Adaptation Technology for Azerbaijan’s Mountain Region" (contact deadline 27 Jun. 2016)
- Myanmar titled “Promoting data for climate change, drought and flood management in Myanmar" (contact deadline 27 Jun. 2016)
If the subject areas fit your expertise well, and if you would like to be involved in providing 'technical services' towards the implementation of this request, please contact Victor Shinde (victorshinde@ait.asia ). He will help you in preparing a small application package (2-3 pages) that will be submitted to the CTCN Headquarters in Copenhagen. He will also explain to you the CTCN assistance mechanism. The application package will essentially contain information on:
- Capacity to work in the language used by the country requesting assistance.
- Work conducted on related topic/technology, if any (optional: provide relevant documents).
- Previous work in the country or region, if any (optional: provide relevant documents).
- Relationships and partnerships you may have in the country, if any.
Please note that submission of an application package does not guarantee an award. The CTCN Headquarters receives a number of applications from different organizations and it is their prerogative to choose the one they deem appropriate.
Campus Updates
Renovation of Dorm G
Please be informed that Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM) is starting the renovation of dorm G from today 27 June 2016. The renovation of the dorm G is scheduled for a period of 3 months.
During this renovation period there might be loud noise or disturbance on the pathway near dorm G. In this regard, OFAM requests your kind understanding until the renovation is completed.

The 5th AIT Distinguished Adjunct Faculty (DAF) Seminar will be delivered by Professor Sudip K. Rakshit entitled, "Transition to a Sustainable Bio-economy: Global Perspectives"

Prof. Sudip K. Rakshit is a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Biorefining and Bioenergy Processes at Lakehead University (LU) . He is associated with the Biorefining Research Institute (BRI) and the Department of Chemical Engineering at LU. Professor Rakshit served as the AIT Vice President for Research from September 2005 to March 2012 and Professor in the Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology (FEBT) program from January 1995. His first employment was in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, India. Prof. Rakshit obtained his Master and PhD in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from IIT, Delhi, India and B.Tech from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. His first degree was Chemistry Honours from the Loyola College, Chennai, India.
