3) Structural Engineering Forum, AIT is hosting a competition under the title “Seismic Performance of Building Model” on 18 May 2023.
About Competition
Model:
- One Building Model for both graduate and undergraduate students
- Balsa wood of a Maximum of 12×12 mm lateral dimension should be used
- The height of the structure should be 75.80 cm (Ground Floor + 4 Floors)
- Flat lightweight material can be used as a floor slab
Guidelines:
- Graduate contestants are required to bring 1 building model showcasing anyone distinct vibration control strategy.
- Undergraduate contestants must bring only one building model demonstrating a vibration control strategy.
- Balsa Wood ( Max.12mm x 12mm cross section).
- Connections: Bolting, superglue, string, epoxy, or screw(plan accordingly).
- Baseplate: Should be made of Plywood/cardboard & should be exactly 30cm*30cm. To fix your model to the shaking table, the minimum cover on all four sides of the base plate should be at least 1.25 cm.
Rules:
- Member Limit: 5-7 individuals
- Both graduate & undergraduate participants are required to bring 1 building model showcasing any one distinct vibration control strategy.
- Balsa wood should be used as material.
The decision of the judges is final, and no discussion will be entered in relation to their decision.
Registration is free and should be carried out by filling out a google form.
Note: Please provide the names of their team captain along with other members and their advisor (Professor/Faculty Members)
Prizes
Graduate Students winner will receive 50,000 baht
Undergraduate students winner will receive 30,000 baht

5) Blood Donation Announcement

Dear AIT Community,
The Thai Red Cross Society has been working with volunteer students and staff to collect units of blood from the AIT community. The bloodmobile visits AIT every three months, four times a year, hoping to collect enough units to supply the constant demand for blood.
We again would like to ask for your help. The next visit for blood donation is scheduled on Friday, 2nd June 2023, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the parking lot in front of the AIT Conference Center.
Give blood! You'll experience a fulfilling sense of contribution. And the donation process isn't time-consuming. It only takes about half an hour. For more information about blood donation please see the attached.

5) Measures to prevent COVID-19

1. DISTANCING - Distance 1-2 meters, avoid being in crowded places.
2. MASK WEARING - Wear a hygienic mask when entering a risky place.
3. HAND WASHING - Wash your hands often with water or alcohol hand rub
4. TESTING - Check the ATK test when there is a respiratory disease.
How is the annual COVID-19 vaccine injected (Highly recommended)
- 1 injection per year, starting from 2023 onwards
- Injected since April before entering the rainy season
- Inject away from the last needle, or the last infection for at least 3 months
- Can be injected with flu vaccine by injecting each side of the upper arm
